Merchandising and Branding 

Unlike music videos and film trailers, as soaps are long running programmes it is more difficult to produce merchandise that can relate to the subject. The most common merchandising of television soaps are yearly annuals and books that summarise the events of the year and look back on the overall changes within the programme, however, this is irrelevant for my soap as I am introducing a brand new feature to the public and there is nothing to summarise as it is from scratch.

Therefore the majority of my promotion of my trailer should be in the form of advertising and branding to ensure that my new soap is recognisable to the public especially my target audience as the programme progresses through time.

Branding includes elements such as the name, logo, fonts, images etc. that are used to associate elements with the subject area. In terms of my soap I must use a similar font throughout my different pieces so that the text is always the same and always recognisable.
